four years in a nutshell

Susan currently has 4 years and over the years a lot has happened. Already in the first week of life at home, ill with pneumonia and had to return to the hospital. Fortunately, soon recovered.
In addition to the daily care that is needed at niemowlakach, you had to remember to mandatory inspection visits with various specialists: ophthalmologist, cardiologist, neurologist, neurosurgeon. Was also necessary since the first days of rehabilitation, with which Susan could properly develop.

Pretty soon it became clear that hydrocephalus, which resulted in bleeding in the head, uaktywniło and you had to go to the hospital, where neurosurgeons implanted valve, whereby the pressure in the head subsided. At the ophthalmologist found out that Susan has myopia, astigmatism, nystagmus and strabismus. For about one year old Susan wears glasses, which at first were more likely to interfere, and in a case than on the nose. At the moment these are the glasses with lenses -6 -4 at fault in both meshes. Now there are already more likely to nose. :) We go to consult an eye specialist for Krakow. Apparently, there is the best clinic specializing in the field of strabismus and nystagmus. In April 2010 we appointed the first treatment.

Recently, it turned out that it all came to epilepsy. This year, our lad was already three times in the hospital for this reason, and now takes on a permanent basis anticonvulsant (DEPAKINE).

But to it was not that Susan has the same unpleasant experience, talk about the positive side of her life.

Susan is a cheerful child, which, as its passage is developing very nicely. Through rehabilitation she began to walk. Due to the increased muscle tension first steps set until the age of three years, but for us, and so it was a great joy :) . Slowly begins to speak, he can express what he wants, at least in the language known only to themselves :) , Which is not always understood and then be quite annoying. It is becoming more independent, able to eat herself, she sometimes undress dress. Often, simply can not help himself, all he wants, "siam".

I must also say that through hard work on the right handle occupational therapy, which by increased muscle tension, which I wrote earlier, was in the beginning at all into oblivion, now begins to cooperate with the left, which in turn has always worked for two.

Generally, during these four years of his life has made enormous progress, despite the various obstacles that had to be overcome.

Since April this year, Susan attends a nursery, where it is rehabilitated, is working with a speech therapist, learns self-reliance and living among other children. She likes to go there, but unfortunately last very often suffer from upper respiratory tract, which is the only guy in the nursery. : ( Every moment gets the drugs that are designed to strengthen the immune system, antibiotics, however, which, unfortunately, often must take not allow this gain immunity. We hope that eventually we will get the medication that will help or that simply grow out of the Susan horrible infection. Recently we were at the doctor, who specializes in allergies. Susan did new tests and found that begins to be allergic to dust mites and mold ... no : ( hence may be the constant colds and infections. The doctor wrote a special syropek and promised to work on resistance Sue ... would invent something good ... :)

I can not not mention the establishment of mullein. This is a school for children with poor eyesight, in which the Early Support Development Laboratory. Ladies working there quite a few developments have contributed to Susan. At the beginning they were home visits, but now we ride for the girls once every two weeks. Children are there a variety of stimuli delivered much needed for development and not just in terms of eye disease, but also social, and ogólnorozwojowym logopedycznym. The team has a friendly atmosphere and is also an opportunity to meet other moms and dads with whom you can share their experiences and innovations.

In June last year, was organized by the four-day tour of the facility Sulejowski Reservoir. It was great just briefly :)

Susan first days of life

Susan did not have an easy start in life. From the first moments had to fight for them with all my strength. When you first saw it, it lay in an incubator attached to a lot of tubes. Ventilator, pump the nutrient drip, another antibiotic, hose from heart rate monitor ... was a bit of that. For the first day, no one gave us a guarantee that Susan will live.

She lay so helpless, she had a thin skin, eyes still closed, which first opened in the 13th era, and I could only stare at her for a quick incubator.

Already at the age of 14 Susan had her first surgery (closure of ductus Botalla).

Passed day after day in the hospital, every day we were hoping we play, which came, we enjoyed the food from each milliliter and checked if still breathing through a respirator or may already own. At the age of 44 were able to breathe without a ventilator Susan :) . Then it was already getting better. For the first time I could hug his daughter, I could make the first attempts to feed from a bottle (the first portion was approximately 45ml), the first time, scrolls, etc.

Unfortunately, in this era of 73-we learned about retinopathy of prematurity (III degree), ie the growth of abnormal blood vessels within the retina, which can lead to detachment of the retina. The second surgery was needed in the short life of Susan, laser, by which retinopathy is withdrawn. After this procedure is an abomination przyplątała infection, by which apnea occurred and Susan had two days to be connected back to the ventilator.

Susan after the birth of intracranial bleeding was still fourth degree, which, thanks to drugs administered disappeared, but left behind hydrocephalus, initially inactive.

After 99 days of fighting, 24.01.2006r., Susan finally arrived home, she could finally sleep in their own bed. Then weighed 2900g :)

After five weeks stay in hospital Polish Mother Health Center, the maternity ward, on the night 17/18 October 2005., Came the first contractions. Unfortunately, pregnancy "small" because 25/26 weeks, so contractions were not visible to the monitor, the doctor on duty did not see labor. I've been waiting for 8 am, until he came head of the Department and said it was time to give birth ... the forces of nature ... for so early in pregnancy, unfortunately ...

This was the start of a new life ...
